She shoots she scores!

She shoots she scores!  I took a shot a few years ago and asked Pro Hockey News if I could write for them.  I scored when they said yes!  Now in my fourth season, I am thrilled and blessed to be editing the SPHL.  Every week when I get submissions from the photojournalists in Single A, I’m just more amazed at the talent I get to work with.

As a feature writer, I’ve had some exciting and sometimes bizarre adventures.  PHN literally gave me a front row seat to the NHL Draft in 2015 where I had the good fortune to meet Connor McDavid.   My most outstanding memories are from the NHL All-Star game in Nashville in 2016.  Working the red carpet event and interviewing the players was a truly unforgettable experience, as was watching from the press box at the top of Bridgestone Arena while the fans revolted and made John Scott the All-Star MVP.

Being a feature writer has put me in touch with some interesting people.  I’ve made friends with movie stars (Paul D’Amato; Slapshot),talked to country singers and rodeo stars, found out about synthetic ice rinks, and met a pretty amazing little 7 year old guy named Tanner with the courage of an enforcer who’s beating cancer.  From the FHL to the NHL, I’ve made friends for a lifetime.  Thanks, Lou, for giving me a shot.  Thanks to Don Money for showing me the ropes.  Thanks to our wonderful photographers in the SPHL for making me look good!  And thanks to all the players, coaches and sources for taking your valuable time to talk to me.  PHN is letting me live out my dream!

Publisher’s Note: With February marking our 15th anniversary we posting stories and reminiscences from our #TEAMPHN about their experiences over the years.  We are proud to call each of our writers, columnists, photojournalists, and editors members of the family.
