The Wolseley UK Fife Flyers are delighted to welcome 26-year-old forward Shawn Cameron to Kirkcaldy for the 2022/23 Elite Ice Hockey League season.
Versatile Cameron joins the Flyers from ECHL side the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. The 5″ 11′ right winger has also dressed for AHL sides the Utica Comets and Springfield Thunderbirds.
The Quebecois has appeared in the AHL 13 times, scoring 5 points in that period. His ECHL career has seen him play 59 times for the Swamp Rabbits, notching up 18 points.
He also had an impressive college career, leading the CCHL in goals (40), points (91), and earned league Most Valuable Player and First All-Star Team during the 2015-16 campaign with the Cumberland Grads.
Commenting on his move to Fife, Cameron said:
“I am excited for this season and for the opportunity to be joining a team with such history.
“Looking for a bounce back season myself, signing with the underdog made the most sense.
“I am ready to make an immediate impact offensively with my speed and help the Flyers get a playoff spot.
“Much of the Cameron roots can be traced back to Scotland, so my family and I are excited to take on this challenge in a place that already feels like home.”
Adding comment, Fife Flyers Associate Coach Jeff Hutchins said:
Shawn is an extremely fast skater and he creates offense through his speed. Although a winger Shawn can also step into the middle when needed.
“He is very good on the penalty kill and will add offense on the power play. He is coming off a difficult season and is eager to get his game back to its best.
“We are fortunate to get him after two years under contract in the AHL. We look forward to working with Shawn in the comings weeks.”
