QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. — Dominated by Quebec 37-28 in shots on goals Shawinigan got the best over Quebec, 8-2, on the scoreboard in front of 3,222 fans. Anthony Beauvillier and Gabriel Slight with two goals each led their team to victory against the Remparts registering their 6th consecutive victory.
Working along the board Alexis D’Aout and Pasqual Aquin united their efforts with D’Aout making great pass to Anthony Beauviller who scores his 12th of the regular season getting a point in the 13th consecutive game at 3:32 into the opening period.
Just 2:13 later the Cataractes came back with a shot by James Phelan beating Quebec netminder Julian Galloway on stick side at 5:45. Visitors got slight edge in shots on goal 13-10.
Quebec ended first period with a second power play opportunity and began the second following a penalty to Shawinigan Gabriel Slight for high sticking at 18:10 of the first twenty minutes.
As the penalty to Slight ended Quebec reduced Shawinigan lead to one goal.
Acquired for a 10th-round selection by Quebec from Moncton Bronson Beaton took his own rebound beating Shawinigan goaltender Antoine Samuel 45 seconds in the second period.
Dominated 9-0 in first 7:00 minutes of the second period Shawinigan regained their two-goal lead on their first shot of the period following a goal by Gabriel Slight redirecting a shot by Alexis D’Aout at 8:03.
Going 0-in-3 in the game with a man advantage Quebec cut Shawinigan lead to one goal as a slap shot by Remparts veteran defenseman Nikolas Brouillard beat Cataractes netminder to his right scoring his 5th goal in last 7 games at 10:47.
Shawinigan came back to regain their two-goal lead with the second of the game by Slight who beat Quebec goalie on his right side with 5:52 remaining.
Allowing four goals on 13 shots against Quebec head coach decided to make change sending Samuel Cardinal who has been call up following Booth’s surgery.
Mathieu Olivier made Shawinigan leads by three as he scored his 5th of regular season as he pushed the puck free in the blue circle slowly crossing the goal line with 1:17 remaining to the middle frame.
A penalty at the end of second period taken by Quebec left winger Matthew Boucher with 21 seconds remaining proved to be costly.
Beauvillier second of the game made Shawinigan leading 6-2 beating Cardinal who has been called up from the St-Eustache Vikings in Junior AAA making Major Junior Hockey League debut at 16 year old. . Catarates were 1-in-4 with man advantage.
A turnover by Quebec defenseman Aaron Dutra lead to Shawinigan seventh goals in the game. Losing the puck in trying to get out of the zone Charles Taillon went on breakaway beating Samuel Cardinal over his left shoulder at 10:43.
Nicholas Welsh one-timer left no chance to young Quebec netminder Cardinal with Shawinigan second goals on five power play opportunities at 17:02.
