In San Jose Saturday night, Martin Jones stuffed five of six shots from the Anaheim Ducks in the skills competition and made 25 saves through extra time to help the Sharks win their fourth straight, 2-1, over Anaheim.
“That was great,” Sharks head coach Peter DeBoer said. “He’s playing with confidence. He looks like the player we had here two years ago, which is a good sign because we need that.”
Joel Ward scored in regulation for San Jose.
“I felt like me and [Barclay Goodrow primary assist on the goal] spent some time together so we gained some chemistry a little bit in practices,” Ward said. “It’s always good to contribute and help your team in a positive way. It was a good feeling to get one, and get the boys going a little bit and give ourselves a chance.”
Corey Perry struck for the Ducks lone goal.
“I thought we played really well tonight. If you look at the really high-quality scoring chances I think you can count them on one hand for the ones we gave up. It was a really solid game for us. We could have run away with that one if [Ryan] Miller doesn’t play the way he does,” Jones said after the win.

Ryan Miller made 44 saves in the loss as the Ducks dropped their third straight and fell to 6-6-2.
“He (Miller) gave us a chance,” Ducks head coach Randy Carlyle said. “That’s all you can ask of your goaltender. He was outstanding in the net for us, got us to a shootout. We lost the shootout, but we got a point off a back-to-back.”
