STOCKTON, Calif. – The San Jose Sharks will get another opportunity following a double overtime game win against the Las Vegas Golden Knights, with a final score of 2-1 in Las Vegas.
A single goal in the first period, by the Sharks Logan Couture, followed by a single goal in the second period by Jonathan Marchessault to even the score.
The two teams stayed knotted at one apiece throughout regulation.
In the first overtime period, both teams had some great chances. Martin Jones had 58 saves in the win, while Marc-Andre Fleury had 28.
It was Tomas Hertl that scored the game winner at 11:17 into the second overtime period. A minute earlier, Barclay Goodrow was sent to the penalty box leaving the Sharks short-handed. Tomas Hertl picked up a loose puck in the neutral zone, and made a shot from the top of the circle beat Fleury stick side to the back of the net.
Both teams will return to San Jose for game seven, where it will be the winner of that game that will advance to face the Colorado Avalanche in the second round.
