Adin Hill made 20 saves. in the win.
“You couldn’t ask for a much better way to start the season. It was a team win,” Sharks head coach Bob Boughner said. “We tried to play to our identity as best we could. I think everybody knows there were some nerves there at the beginning, especially for some of the young guys.”
Andrew Cogliano got the rally started with a shorthanded goal.
“[Cogliano’s] goal I think really gave the whole team life,” Boughner said. “We needed something to happen at 2-0. We needed the next one or it would have been a tough mountain to climb there.”
Weatherby tied the game up, 2-2, and Hertl scored off the power play for a 3-2 lead.
“We lost momentum after [the Sharks’] first goal and it kind of went from there,” Dubois said. “I think that’s where, in the second period, we kind of got spread out. Forwards got spread out from the defensemen, making it hard to make plays.”

The Jets’ Jansen Harkins scored in the third period to make the final, 4-3.
Connor Hellebuyck made 27 saves in the loss.
