SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Sharks returned home following a devastating loss in triple overtime with a big 5-1 win over the Nashville Predators in game five, and now lead the series 3-2.

Patrick Marleau started the scoring at 10:47 into the first period.  Joonas Donski passed the puck from behind the net from Marleau, positioned near the bottom of the circle, who wristed the puck stick side into the net past Pekka Rinne in the net for Nashville.

After scoring the winning goal in triple overtime, Mike Fisher scored the solo goal for Nashville to tie the game at 1-1.  Fisher finished the shot from James Neal for the goal.

Joe Pavelski scored the ultimate game winner with just under three minutes remaining in the first period. This goal was similar to one from an earlier game, when Thornton won the puck on the drop then passed it to Pavelski for the goal.

Logan Couture and Pavelski each scored a goal in the second period, and Melker Karlsson scored the final Sharks goal with just under a minute remaining in the game.

After a turnover in the neutral zone, Couture raced to the net beating Rinne for the goal.  Pavelski’s second goal of the night, with 38 seconds remaining in the period, was a power play goal that was redirected high to the back of the net off a pass from Marleau after slipping behind the net.

Carter Hutton took over for Rinne with just under four minutes remaining in the game. Sharks dumped the puck in hard to the boards and Hutton tried to trap the puck behind the net, but couldn’t get back in place in time before Karlsson was able to wrist the shot past him with 50 seconds remaining in the game, giving the sharks the 5-1 ultimate game score.

Martin Jones had yet another astonishing night with 24 saves for the Sharks win. Pavelski has 8 goals in the post season to date.

The Predators must win game six to stay in the hunt, which will be Monday in Nashville.
