It’s that time of season when talk of regular season series ending comes up. That was true Wednesday night when the San Jose Sharks and Los Angeles Kings played their fifth and final game of the regular season.
Brent Burns and Tommy Wingels scored early to get the Sharks going in a 3-2 win over
the Kings in LA.
Martin Jones made 22 saves for the win as the Sharks improved to 27-16-2 on the season.
“He was great,” Burns said. “He’s great every night for us. It’s no different than any other night. He’s a stud every night for us. Huge save in the third there, an amazing leg save.”
Joe Pavelski provided the game-winning goal in the third period on the power play.

Tanner Pearson and Marian Gaborik scored for LA who dropped to 22-19-4.
Pavelski made the score 3-1 early in the third period on the power play and Gaborik got the Kings close with just under five minutes left in regulation.
The lack of scoring contributions from across the bench is not sitting well with the Kings bench boss.
“When it’s that close going into the third period, you need your top guys to step up and make a difference in the third,” LA head coach Darryl Sutter said. “That wasn’t the case.”
The Kings registered only five shots on goal in the third period.
“We have to be better in our preparation and getting ready for big games. This is a huge game for our team and we kind of came out a little flat.” — Kings defenseman Jake Muzzin
