In San Jose, the Sharks picked up their first home with, 3-2, over the Anaheim Ducks on Monday night.
Logan Couture scored once and had two points in the win.
Martin Jones made 26 saves to get the win.
“I think I played all right the last few games,” Jones said. “There’s always room for improvement. We’ve had a tough schedule up to this point.”
Max Comtois scored with two minutes gone in the third period to cut the deficit to one goal for the Ducks and make the final 18 minutes of the game more interesting.
“The chances were there, we just couldn’t finish,” Anaheim head coach Dallas Eakins said.
Sam Steel and Kevin Labanc also scored for the Sharks.
“This first couple of shifts, we were kind of sloppy, but then we got the lines rolling and started to feel at home,” Labanc said. “We have to play good in our own building. It feels good to be home.”
It was Steel’s first goal.
“I think we’ve been grinding for offense, and we haven’t really been getting those types of bounces,” Steel said. “Hopefully, that’s a sign we’re going to get more like that.”
San Jose improved to 6-7-1.”We had a much different look on the power play with (defenseman) [Brent] Burns up top,” San Jose head coach Bob Boughner said. “One of the better ones of the year.”
John Gibson made 26 saves in the loss.
