Sharks get late goal from Carlsson to top Bruins, 3-1 PHN's Best Shots of the Game

San Jose – The Sharks’ Lucas Carlsson scored off a backhand shot with under three and half minutes left in the third period to give San Jose a 2-1 lead over the visiting Boston Bruins on Saturday night.

Carlsson has been icing for the San Jose Barracuda of the AHL this season, with 10 goals in 44 games.

“It’s been tough the last 10 months, but now I feel so much better,” Carlsson said.

Alexandar Georgiev made 22 saves in the win.

“I thought we worked extremely hard tonight. I thought we got our effort back,” Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky said. “We had a good feeling going into the third period.”

After a scoreless first period, William Eklund put the Sharks up 1-0 early in the middle frame.

“We were actually talking on the bench,” San Jose’s Macklin Celebrini said. “Eklund said something about going five-hole on him, and then he went five-hole on him.”

Boston’s Casey Mittelstadt  tied the game, 1-1, at 16:50. The Bruins have now lost five straight.

“There was a stretch where I thought we could’ve played better, but we had them on their heels,” Mittelstadt said.

Barclay Goodrow hit an empty with less than a minute on the clock for the 3-1 final.

Joonas Korpisalo made 18 saves in the loss.
