In San Jose, Martin Jones returned to form for the Sharks and made 32 saves in a solid 3-1 win over the visiting Calgary Flames.

“I don’t think the games have been perfect; we can still improve here,” Jones said. “But we’ve limited the high-danger turnovers.”

The Sharks have won two straight after losing their first four games of the season.

“It was nice to score first for once,” Logan Couture said after the Sharks jumped to a 2-0 lead.

Elias Lindholm had the Flames’ lone goal.

Tthe strike came early in the third to cut the deficit to 1-2, but Tomas Hertl scored a shorthanded goal for San Jose to push the lead to 3-1 for the Sharks.

“You could feel the weight coming off Timo and Tommy’s shoulders,” Couture said. “It’s not easy to start the season and you haven’t scored for a few games. You start thinking about it every time you’re on the ice.”

Tje lost power play chance in the third was the death knell for Calgary.

“It’s 2-1 at a huge time in the game,” Calgary head coach Bill Peters said. “We just had a breakaway. Jones made a save on (Mikael) Backlund, then [Sean Monahan] hits the post and it’s 2-1. We’re on the power play, and they go down and make it 3-1.”
