ANAHEIM, Calif. – The San Jose Sharks will return home for game three of the Western Conference finals, with a nice 2-0 lead in the first round of the series following a 3-2 win over the Ducks in game two.
Only forty seconds into the game the Ducks scored their first goal of the series. When Jakob Silfverberg’s long shot from outside of the top of circle beat Martin Jones stick side.
Marcus Sorensen tied the score at 10:19 when he tipped in a shot that ricocheted off the wall behind the net to just beside the crease past John Gibson.
The Sharks took the lead with 5:19 remaining in the period on a power play when Kevin Labanc raced towards the net, slipped the puck across the crease to Logan Couture who finished the goal with a back-handed shot just in front of the crease.
Tomas Hertl extended the Sharks lead to 3-1, when he took the puck from center ice, towards the net, then flipped the puck backhanded top shelf 1:21 into the second period.
The Ducks closed the gap on the next power play, when Hampus Lindholm’s shot off a pass along the boards to the slot, beats Jones, just over his glove. But that would be the last goal for the night, with the Ducks coming up short in the game 2 loss 3-2.
San Jose now leads the series 2-0, as they return home for the next game on Monday evening.
