Sharks close gap in series with Bears

HERSHEY, PA  – The Hershey Bears had an opportunity Wednesday night to close out their best-of-five Eastern Conference playoff series against the Worcester Sharks but four unanswered goals by four different players propelled the Sharks to a 4-1 win over the Bears in Game Three to help inch back in the series with Hershey bur the Bears still Worcester Sharks logohold the upper hand with two more chances at home up in the series 2-1.

Game Four is set for Friday night in Hershey. If the there is a deciding Game Five it will be also be in Hershey Sunday night.

The Sharks were helped by their power play who was 2-6 on the night and kept Hershey’s power play scoreless. Chris Tierney and Micheal Haley each had a goal and assist while goaltender Troy Grosenick made 27 saves.

Grosenick’s counterpart Phoenix Copley was Hershey’s best player making 29 saves on 32 shots with teammate Casey Wellman led Hershey in shots with four while Ryan Carpenter was arguably the Sharks best player leading all shooter with five.

The Sharks outshot Hershey 27-16 after two periods but the Bears turned the pressure on the Worcester net with 12 shots to the Sharks five.

Hershey’s lone goal came early in the game at the 3:1 mark but from there on it was mostly Worcester who kept the pressure on knowing it was do-or-die from there on.
