The San Jose Sharks’ special teams were working it hard Tuesday night. They struck for a power play goal in regulation and Joe Pavelski added a shortie in overtime for a 3-2 win over the Jets in Winnipeg.
“We made some good plays, and we get a turnover on the [penalty kill] there in overtime and we were able to finally catch them,” Pavelski said.
San Jose improved to 31-16-7.
ogan Couture and Marcus Sorensen scored for the Sharks in regulation.
“You know, we had some good players out there that made some big-time plays. The pass [Brent Burns] gave to [Joe] Pavelski was world-class, and it was a rocket. And the way [Pavelski] handled it and stuck it in the net was world-class, so that’s what great players do,” Sharks head coach Peter DeBoer said of the OT winner.
Martin Jones made 25 saves to pick up the win.
Blake Wheeler and Mathieu Perreault had the Jets’ strikes in the loss.
Winnipeg dropped to 34-16-3.

Connor Hellebuyck made 35 saves in the loss.
“I think any loss in overtime is a bit more frustrating than regulation because you’re right there and you’re tasting it,” Hellebuyck said. “We’ve done so well in overtime, so we can’t get too mad. But man, those are the ones you want.”
Hellebuyck kept the Jets in the game with several saves off Sharks’ breakaways.
“I don’t know how many breakaways he stopped, or backdoor tap-ins,” Wheeler said of Hellebuyck. “He made just some unbelievable saves. So it’s too bad we couldn’t get the job done, because he had an incredible effort tonight.”
