Seven not lucky for Wichita against Allen

ALLEN, TX  – Wade MacLeod and Michael Brodzinski each had three points and Riley Gill collected his third shutout of the year against Wichita, helping Allen to a 7-0 victory on Wednesday night at the Allen Event Center.

MacLeod netted his sixth of the season at 10:55 when he tipped a pass on net and found a loose puck near the crease to make it 1-0. Zach O’Brien, Ryan Rupert and Louick Marcotte had several chances, but couldn’t finish on a passing play near the end of the opening frame.

In the second, Allen scored three times to grab a 4-0 lead through two. Chad Costello made it 2-0 after tipping home a pass from Spencer Asuchak near the crease. Tyler Barnes made it 3-0 at 9:18 when he had his first shot stopped by Scott Greenham. He stayed with the play and put home the rebound near the left post. Greger Hanson scored at 19:39 as he caught a pass through the slot and beat Greenham with a backhand to make it 4-0.

MacLeod netted his second of the game at 5:13 of the third period. He caught a pass through the slot and beat Greenham, who was screened, to make it 5-0. Brodzinski scored the next to two to cap off a 7-0 win. His first came at 7:15 as he took a shot from the right point. His second came at 13:10, firing another shot from the blue line that got through traffic.

Greenham suffered the loss, stopping 29 of 36 shots. Gill earned his seventh shutout of the season, stopping all 29 shots he faced.

Wichita did not register a power play opportunity in the game while Allen was 2-for-3 on the man advantage.

The Thunder are off until Saturday night as they make their last trip to the BOK Center to face the Oilers at 7:05 p.m.
