The Belleville Senators used six different goal-scorers to roll past the Toronto Marlies 6-2 Friday night at CAA Arena.
The Sens struck 3:54 into the first as after killing off a penalty with Drake Batherson in the box, the rookie hopped out of the box and fed McCormick on the left wing who fired a wrister past Kaskisuo from the circle for his sixth goal of the year.
The Marlies found an equalizer at 6:42 through Greening as after Andreas Borgman’s blast from the blue line bounced off the end boards back out in front, the Marlies veteran was able to deposit the puck into the net for his fourth of the season.
Lindberg’s goal had Belleville ahead 2-1 after 20 minutes as on an odd-man rush, Aaron Luchuk centered the puck to LaBate who nudged it on to Lindberg who notched his third goal with the Senators.
After Cody Goloubef rang the post with a laser from the blue line on the man advantage, Belleville did score on the power play at 5:18 of the second as Chlapik re-directed Adam Tambellini’s pass out front to push the Sens’ lead to 3-1.
Toronto cut the deficit to 3-2 as Hogberg went behind the net to play the puck on a penalty kill, lost the handle to former Senator Gabriel Gagne who centered out front for Grundstrom to deposit into an empty-net at 12:04 but the Sens got the goal back with 5:07 left in the period as Balcers scored short-handed on a delayed penalty as he whiffed on a shot but the puck slid through Kaskisuo for Balcers’ 15th of the year.
The Senators added to its lead in the third as Brown buried his eighth of the season as he took a lovely feed from Batherson on the power play before picking his spot past Kaskisuo for a 5-2 lead while Elliott pushed the lead higher with a backhander in close at 11:44.
Sens rookie forward Aaron Luchuk registered his first multi-point AHL game. McCormick played in his 250th career AHL game, all of which came within the Senators organization.
