Senators rally from early deficit to defeat Devils, 7-3

The New Jersey Devils took an early 2-0 lead over the Senators in Ottawa Tuesday night.

But that the end of the celebrating as the Senators scored six unanswered goals en route to a 7-3 win

After a slow start, Craig Anderson made 30 saves to get the win; he left the game in the 15th minute of the third period for an injury.

Mike McKenna, made six saves in relief of Anderson.

Mark Stone and Colin White each had two goals for the Senators.

Matt Duchene kicked in three assists in the win.

“Once we got that first [goal], I thought we did a really good job at pushing back and kind of imposing our game on them,” Duchene said. “We kept the hammer down. We didn’t change our game even when it was close. That’s the type of hockey we need to play.”

Ryan Dzingel and Magnus Paajarvi also scored for the Senators.

“I’ve said it all season and I’m going to keep saying it, we have a heck of a group in here. It’s impressive what we have in here and how we can do what we did tonight,” Duchene said after the win.

Taylor Hall, Travis Zajac and Kyle Palmieri scored for New Jersey.

“If you get a 2-0 lead in a game, you should probably win,” Hall said. “From about the 10-minute mark of the first period and on, we seemed to be outplayed.”

Cory Schneider got the start for the4 Devils and yielded four goals and made 18 saves before getting the hook.

Keith Kinkaid, who made 17 saves in relief.

“We did it to ourselves tonight. That’s the thing. It’s not like they were bad bounces or fluky goals. They were total breakdowns. We didn’t give our goalies a chance tonight. On the first four or five goals, they were tap-ins,” the Devils’ Andy Greene said after the loss.
