Senators continue streak of success with 4-1 win over Montreal Korpisalo makes 24 saves in win - Update to follow

In Montreal, the visiting Ottawa Senators took a 3-0 lead into the third period on Tuesday, and cruised to a 4-1 win over the Canadiens.

Joonas Korpisalo made 24 saves in the win.

The Senators moved to 18-24-1 off their fourth win in six games.

The Senators jumped out to a 1-0 lead at 7:45 of the opening stanza on a shorthanded marker from Ridly Greig.

Jake Sanderson scored at 8:26 of the first to push the advantage to 2-0, he scored off a wrist shot from the slot.

Montreal dropped to 19-21-7.

In the middle frame, Ottawa’s Shane Pinto  potted his first of the season at 6:22 on a 4-on-4 skating set up for a 3-0 lead headed to the third period.

Johnathan Kovacevic was the lone striker for the Habs, his third period marker at 12:31 cut the Senators lead to 3-1.

Ottawa sealed the 4-1 win at 17:33 off an empty-net strike by Mathieu Joseph .

Jake Allen made 24 saves in the loss.
