Sébastien Piché Completes The Steelers Defence

Steelers have confirmed that Sebastien Piche will complete the clubs import roster of the defensive blue line.

The 34 year old has agreed an initial one year deal with the club and joins from HK Olimpia Ljubljana.

Fox stated “Sebastien is a solid 2 way veteran Dman that can play in all situations.

“He had an outstanding year in the ICEHL last year in Ljubljana leading his team in D scoring and Time on Ice.

“Sebastien is coming in to be someone we can count on to play the right way every night. He has tons of experience in some great leagues, has an outstanding shot, will make plays in transition and can play a physical defensive game.

“We also think he will be really good on the PK and is willing to eat pucks. I

“really like the way our Dcore looks. We will be able to really push the tempo from the back and got guys who will really play with the defensive intensity needed. This also gives us the flexibility for Mosey to start as a F and if we run into injuries have him available to move back if needed”.

Speaking from his home in Prague Piche said “I haven’t been this excited for a new season in a while, the whole Sheffield and Britain thing excites me

“I’ve heard so many good things about the league, its quality and its grittiness. I think playing here will be more like back home.

“Once I started speaking with Sheffield I felt this was the right first for me and the family, all the report I heard back about The Steelers was first class, the way we would all be treated. Mathieu Roy is a very good friend of mine, he spoke well when I mentioned Sheffield, it will be good to go up against him when we play Glasgow”

Piche describes himself as a “two way defenceman. I take pride in defence but like to make plays as well

“With me all my production comes from hard work and compete, I come to play every night”
