Seattle can’t keep up with Ducks, drop 4-1 decision

In Anaheim, the Ducks picked up a 4-1 win over the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday night.

Anthony Stolarz made 19 saves in the Ducks win, it was his sixth straight victory in the Anaheim nets.

“‘Stoley’s’ been outstanding,” Anaheim head coach Dallas Eakins said. “We just can’t say enough about him. He comes in every day, he works, high-character guy, smile on his face, and it’s amazing how he goes about his business.”

Ryan Donato scored off the power play for Seattle’s only goal in the game.

The Kraken dropped to 10-16-3.

“We didn’t manage the puck well enough to put ourselves into spots where we could forecheck well and generate more O-zone time,” Seattle head coach Dave Hakstol said. “That, ultimately, didn’t allow us to generate a whole lot offensively.”

Trevor Zegras staked the Ducks to a 1-0 lead in the first period.

Derek Grant made it  2-0 for Anaheim with a shorthanded strike.

“Whether we’re playing the No. 1 team or the 32nd team, we spend time with video watching them and their tendencies, but a lot of times we’re focusing on what we’ve done in the past games, and what’s working and what’s not,” Grant said.

Troy Terry pushed the Ducks’ advantage to 3-0 in the second period.

Anaheim’s Sam Carrick scored near the midway point of the third period for the 4-1 final.

“Our fourth line right now (Carrick, Nicolas Deslauriers, Buddy Robinson) has a real great identity,” Eakins said. “The game’s never over for them. It’s 4-1 and they went out and let the other team know that we are still going to play hard until this buzzer goes.”

Philipp Grubauer got the start for the Kraken, he yielded three goals and made 15 saves through two periods, he got the hook in the second intermission.

Chris Driedger made five saves in the final 20 minutes of the game..
