Columbus, GA – The river dragons celebrated their holiday specialty uniforms. They were all green with clover leaves, but would this bring the dragons luck against the sea wolves and their five-game winning streak?
The first period started off quick with a fight between Greco from the dragons and Helland from the sea wolves, just eleven seconds into the game. The sea wolves would strike first with Helland getting a goal at the 6:25 mark. The dragons would respond back with a goal of their own with Kelly slapping one in at the 10:01 mark. The teams would go into intermission with the tied score.
The second period would start off quick, but not a fight rather a score. The dragons would get another goal in with Vannelli at the 1:08 mark. The sea wolves would take a little bit, but they would respond with Eppright getting a goal at the 7:18 mark. The dragons would again gain the lead with Kelly getting his second goal of the night at the 9:28 mark.
The streak of the sea wolves would be on the line in this third period. The period wouldn’t start in their favor with the dragons making another goal during a double minor power play. Croop would make it in the net at the 4:03 mark, but this would also give Croop his 200th professional career point. The dragons would stretch the score with another point with Wickline scoring a power play goal at the 14:16 mark. The sea wolves wouldn’t turn over and accept defeat in such a manner. The sea wolves would score a shorthanded goal with Raleigh scoring at the 16:14 mark.
Unfortunately, this would be the final score of the game with the dragons ending the five-game win streak for the sea wolves. The sea wolves will play the dragons tomorrow after the legends game.
The third star of the game went to Wickline.
The second star of the game went to Croop.
The first star of the game went to Kelly.
