Jaden Schwartz signed a five-year, $27.5-million contract with the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday. It has an average annual value of $5.5 million.
The 29-year-old forward scored 21 points (eight goals, 13 assists) in 40 regular-season games with the St. Louis Blues last season, and did not score a point in four Stanley Cup Playoff games.
“Jaden plays a responsible two-way game and knows how to put the puck in the net,” Kraken general manager Ron Francis said. “He brings veteran leadership to our group and his knowledge of the game and what it takes to win hockey’s ultimate prize will be valuable as we continue to shape our inaugural roster. We’re looking forward to adding his guidance and skill to our team.”

Selected by St. Louis in the first round (No. 14) of the 2010 NHL Draft, Schwartz has scored 385 points (154 goals, 231 assists) in 560 regular-season games, and 54 points (26 goals, 28 assists) in 88 playoff games.
Schwartz led the Blues with 12 goals during the 2019 playoffs to help St. Louis win the Stanley Cup.
Seattle also signed forward Alex Wennberg to a three-year, $13.5 million contract ($4.5 million average annual value). The 26-year-old scored 29 points (17 goals, 12 assists) in 56 regular-season games and two points (one goal, one assist) in six Stanley Cup Playoff games with the Florida Panthers last season.
