On Tuesday night, the Vegas Golden Knights traveled to Nashville to face the Predators and ended up with a 1-0 loss.
Juuse Saros made 43 saves to help the Preds win their third straight.
Saros was fresh and game ready after spending the Predators’ off week in Milwaukee playing for the Admirals in the American Hockey League.
“It was a good decision to send me down there to get some games,” Saros said. “It was a good week there so I felt ready coming into tonight.”
Saros’ start gave Pekka RInne another day to get ready for action.
“He’s been good for a while now,” Predators coach Peter Laviolette said. “Probably going all the way back to [a 4-3 overtime win against the Los Angeles on Nov. 4], he’s been solid. He’s gone down to [Milwaukee of the American Hockey League]. He’s played games. He’s been solid down there. Every opportunity he’s gotten in the net recently he’s looked great. Tonight was just another example of that.”
The offensive difference in the game was a Kevin Fiala goal at the eight-minute mark of the third period.
“It’s a good hockey team over there obviously with where they are in the standings,” Nashville’s Austin Watson said. “We’ve talked about it a lot this year about how good that Vegas team is, so the 0-0 game for a lot of it doesn’t really surprise me.
“They’re really gifted offensively. They’re fast. They work hard defensively. They’re never out of a play. It was a really good hockey game. For us to come out on top 1-0 and play well defensively and get good goaltending and be able to get that goal that put us over the edge, it’s awesome.”
The Preds improved to 26-11-6 with the win and are 14-4-2 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

Marc-Andre Fleury made 26 saves in taking the loss.
“[Saros] made some big saves for them,” Fleury said. “He kept them in the game all night long. Our power play was good, too. We had a lot of shots, a lot of chances, and he kept them out. It happens sometimes.”
The Knights dropped to 29-11-3 and lost their second straight Tuesday.
