Saint John wins over Quebec Noel three goals lead Sea Dogs offence

QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. —Winning last Wednesday against Cape Breton (6-5) on a goal by Nathan Noel, the Saint John center played a key role scoring three times in 4-2 win against the Quebec Remparts.

Thinking Quebec had broken the ice scoring the first goal in the game with Olivier Garneau, referee Stephen Starzomsky waved-off the goal as he blew his whistle too soon thinking the Saint John goaltender Alex D’Orio had the control of the puck. saint_john_sea_dogs-svg

While neither team had any shots on goal in first two minutes of the game, Saint John dominated the second portion of the opening period scoring two goals.

The hero of last Saint John game against Cape Breton Nathan Noel scored the first Sea Dogs goal as his wrist shot left no chance to Quebec goaltender Evgeny Kiselev beaten high on glove side with 5:27 left in the first period.

Saint John right winger Mathieu Joseph scored Sea Dogs second goal taking a rebound from defenseman Thomas Chabot for his 22nd of the year at 18:41.

Going 0-in-2 with a man advantage in first period, Quebec got three other chances including a five-on-three to try to break the ice but on each occasion the Sea Dogs were able to silence Quebec power play unit.

Thinking he had had scored Quebec first goal in the opening period Garneau got first of two great scoring opportunities the other belonging to Matthew Boucher but on both occasions Saint John goalie made the saves.

The middle frame ended as Saint John playing with man up following a penalty to Quebec veteran forward Jonathan Bourcier.

Saint John led in shots on goal 19-15 and 2-0 after forty minutes of play.

Playing shorthanded for almost three minutes to begin the third period Quebec Quebec broke the ice scoring their first goal in that game with 12:35 remaining in the period. Without a goal in his last ten games Quebec right winger Derek Gentile has been the first Quebec player to beat Saint netminder D’Orio with a wrist shot.

Coming from behind in their last two games Remparts seemed confident they could repeat for third time, but Nathan Noel got other idea in mind as he scored his second of the night, with 11:27 to play in the third period.

Regaining their two goal leads, Saint John got an excellent chance to get the goal, that could broke Quebec back, as Mathieu Joseph got a penalty shot. Evgeny Kiselev partially made the save, before the puck hit the post. Fortunately for Quebec head coach Philippe Boucher Kiselev prevented Saint John to add fourth goals.

Been 0-in-8 playing one man up, a penalty to Saint John for too many men on the ice opened the door to the visitor scoring their second goals cutting Saint John lead to only one goal. Taking a rebound shot from teammate defenseman Ross McDougall captain Matthew Boucher scores at 14:21.

Trailing by one with less than two minutes remaining to the game Quebec head coach Philippe Boucher pulled his starting netminder trying to get the equalizer, but with 1:27 remaining to the game Nathan Noel scores his third of the game in an empty net signing a 4-2 win.
