Rupert nets two in Wichita win

TULSA, OK – Ryan Rupert scored twice and Drew Owsley made 36 saves to help Wichita preserve a 4-1 victory against Tulsa on Friday night at the BOK Center.

Zach O’Brien and Chris LeBlanc each collected two assists and Blake Tatchell recorded his 11th of the season.

After a scoreless first, both teams found the net in the second. Dennis Brown fired a slap shot from the right point to make it 1-0 with a power play goal at 3:57. Wichita answered quickly with back-to-back power play goals. Rupert netted his seventh of the season at 8:31 and tied the game at one. Louick Marcotte buried a one-timer from the slot at 15:03 to make it 2-1.

With two minutes to go in the third, Rupert came off the bench, skated into the play and buried his own rebound to increase the lead to 3-1 and his second of the contest. Tatchell tacked on an empty-netter at 18:16 to make it 4-1.

Wichita won for the first time this season at the BOK Center and is 3-8-0-1 against the Oilers in the StoneWolf Casino Cup Series. LeBlanc recorded his first pro point with his first assist and also his first multi-point outing of his career. The win snaps a seven-game winless skid while the Oilers are winless in their last nine.

Owsley claims the win, stopping 36 of 37 shots. Musico takes the loss, stoppng 24 of 27 shots he faced.

Wichita went 2-for-5 on the power play. Tulsa was 1-for-8 on the man advantage.

The Thunder return home Saturday night to host the Missouri Mavericks at 7:05 p.m.
