QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. — Leading by one after twenty minutes, Rouyn-Noranda saw Quebec coming back to score three goals in middle frame to end the second period with tied score 3-3. But three goals in the third period, all with man advantage, led the Huskies to 6-3 win over the Remparts.
With the score tied 3-3 after forty minutes of play, three goals scored, two inside 45 seconds on five-on-three and another on five-on-four, gave the Huskies the win in the first of two games against the Quebec Remparts.
Trying to get information from referees in third period as his team tried to kill a third five-on-three in the game last one for 1:22 seconds Quebec head coach had been tossed out of the game.
Rouyn-Noranda was the first team to get on scoreboard. A penalty to Quebec defenseman Aaron Dutra gave the first opportunity on power play to the home team leading to Huskies opening goal of the game. The shot from the point by Jeremy Lauzon has been redirected by Mathieu Boucher scoring his fourth of the season at 6:14.
Quebec left winger Olivier Garneau and center Zachary Moody were penalized on the same sequence giving the Huskies a five-on-three for over a minute, before Rouyn-Noranda defenseman Jeremy Lauzon went to the box giving Quebec a 56 second advantage after Quebec successfully killed the two men advantage.
The home team dominated the shots on goal 17-6.
Leading by one after the first twenty minutes of play the fans taking place in the Iamgold arena in Rouyn-Norada got lots of action in second period with five goals scored three from visiting team two by their favorites with the score being tied 3-3 after two periods.
The Huskies added to their lead to begin the second period. A long shot from the point from Jacob Meveu surprised Quebec goaltender Callum Booth on his right side with 16:09 to play in middle frame.
Quebec got their first goal cutting Huskies lead in half. Taking first shot on Huskies goaltender Zachary Moody saw his teammates taking the rebound to beat Samuel Harvey under left arm 5:36 into the second period.
Home team regained their two goal leads only 21 seconds later as Francis Perron shot from the blue line seem to deflect on teammate Jean Christophe Beaudin before Quebec goalie inadvertently pushed the puck in his own net. The goal finally been given to Perron his first in the QMJHL.
Playing his second game with Quebec following his arrival playing his first game against Val-d’Or on Friday night, Charley Graaskamp scored his third goals in his second game on great pass from Auguste Impose with 7:22 remaining in the period. It was Quebec first power play goals in fourth men up.
Quebec veteran center Bronson Beaton scored in fifth consecutive games getting a point in last seven games for a personal record with 25.6 seconds to the middle frame. Beaton beat Huskies netminder over his right shoulder.
Seeing their opponent ended second period scoring two goals to bring both teams to square one, Rouyn-Noanda came back playing strong third period scoring three goals all with a help of power plays.
Unable to score on first five-on-three power play chance I the game the Huskies didn’t missed on their second chances with two men advantage scoring twice in 45 seconds. With only four seconds first penalty to Quebec Charley Graaskamp Martins Dzierkals broke the tie giving 4-3 lead to Rouyn-Noranda 5:50 into the third period.
Defenseman Philippe Myers gave back a two goals lead to the Huskies with only 2 seconds remaining second penalty to Massimo Carozza. Myers goal came at 6:32.
Last Huskies goal in the game also came with a man advantage giving Rouyn-Noranda scoring four of their six goals on nine power play opportunities. Mathieu Boucher scores his second of the game the Huskies sixth goals came at 15:07.
Quebec will end his weekend of four games in five nights Sunday afternoon facing Rouyn-Noranda for second game in as many nights.
