QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. —Winners of their last five games the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies scored twice in opening period, once in second adding three more in the third to win 6-4 against Quebec Remparts. Patrick Hrehorcak ends the game with three points scoring two goals leading Huskies offence.
In an offensive first period in Rouyn-Noranda where four goals has been scored, the Huskies broke the ice first. Selected second overall in the European draft, recently arrived in Rouyn-Noranda Jakub Lauko scored his first goal playing only his third games with the Huskies.
Quebec tied the game as they defended themselves killing penalty to teammate Samuel Dickner. Intercepting a pass Louis-Filip Cote left no chance to Huskies goaltender Samuel Harvey at 11:19 of first period.
Rouyn-Noranda regained the lead with the help of power play power play. Alex Beaucage’s shot from the slot left no chance to Quebec netminder Anthony Marrone beating the former Victoriaville Tigres between his pads at 12:17.
Consecutive penalties to Huskies defenseman Justin Bergeron and center Felix Bibeau gave Quebec five-on-three penalty for 1:19. Unable to take advantage of two men advantage, visiting team, tied the score on subsequent five-on-four power play.
Screening Huskies goalie Quebec center Andrew Coxhead redirect the shot from Philipp Kurashev scoring his second goal of the season exactly three minutes after Huskies second goal.
Getting two great scoring opportunities from forward Felix Bibeau and Peter Abbandonato Rouyn-Noranda took the lead for third times in the game. Not been successful on first two power play opportunities, the Huskies regained the lead taking advantage of their third chance with a man up.
A long wrist shot from left face-off circle by Patrick Hrehorcak left no chance to Quebec goaltender Marrone with 4:15 left to play in middle frame.
Leading by one after forty minutes of play, Rouyn-Noranda adds to their lead with only forty-eight seconds gone in third period. Selected sixth overall in 2017 first round William Duffour scored his first QMJHL goal as his wrist shot slowly beat Quebec netminder under his right arm.
Already been two-in-three on power play, already scoring Huskies third goal, Hrehorcak scored his second of the game on Huskies fourth power play opportunities.
Trailing by three in third period, Quebec head coach Patrick Roy decided to pull his starting netminder with 13:18 left to play with his team playing six-on-four. Unfortunately, his team wasn’t able to take advantage of the situation.
Instead, Rouyn-Noranda adds a sixth goal on the scoreboard leading 6-2 as Raphael Harvey Pinard scored in an empty net.
Going only two-in-eight with a man up, Quebec scored their third of the night as they played six-on-four as Remparts head coach had pulled his goalie for second time in third periods. Quebec defenseman Christian Huntley scores his first of the year, only the second by Quebec defensemen on the year.
Going only three-in-ten on power plays, in the game Quebec scored their last goal in the game when Philipp Kurashev redirected a shot from blue line by teammate defenseman Sam Dunn at 17:24.
Quebec will return home playing their next game on Thursday night hosting Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.
