BASINGSTOKE UK: The Bison have added some offensive punch for the coming season, with the re-signing of two British forwards Grant Rounding and Aaron Connolly.
Rounding was born miles away from his Hampshire home in Johannesburg, South
Africa.
Once in Basingstoke, he started his hockey career with the under-10 Bison before four years later moving to Bracknell, where he made his senior debut in season 2010/11.
The 26-year-old returned to the Bison in 2013 and had a couple of injury hit seasons, but last term played a full campaign as mostly a fourth line forward.
The 26-year-old is hoping to return a point a game this campaign and last term collected 11 points
Returning Connolly will once again wear the C on his shirt and the 24-year-old last season he moved into the top 10 all-time British points scorers for the team.
The Northfleet-born forward now has 149 points from 191 games scoring 76 times, which as a goal scorer makes him ninth Brit on the all time list.
He started his career with Kent side Invicta Dynamos and won honours with the Slough Jets, before joining the Herd and being the player to lift the EPL crown for the team.
“Both players will play a key part in this season and bring so much to the team both on and off the ice. Both are born leaders who have an excellent work ethic, which is what the Bison is all about,” said Bison coach Doug Sheppard.
The Herd have also lost two players with Declan Balmer having signed for the Manchester Storm in the Elite League, while Ciaran Long is also set to play in the Elite League.
