Romford re-sign starlet

ROMFORD, UK – Romford Raiders have pulled off a huge coup by re-signing teenage sensation Frankie Harvey.

Harvey was one of the few bright spots in an otherwise dismal campaign for the Raiders last season, delighting the crowd with some excellent performances after moving up from the Romford Fury.

The 17 year-old played for the Romford Spitfires in ENL2 in the 08/09 season, where he put up 19 points (9+10) in 13 games. He started last season there as well, grabbing nine points (4+5) in four games, before being called up to the Raiders. He soon proved to be more than capable at EPL level, registering 32 points (14+18) in 39 games on a poor Romford team, confirming himself as one of the brightest young talents in the country.

At 5 foot 8 Harvey is on the small side, but he is not afraid to get stuck in against players much bigger than him, and he makes up for his lack of size

with speed, grit, determination and excellent stickhandling.
A Romford press release said: “Despite many rival offers for his services, Romford’s teenage sensation Frankie Harvey has pledged his immediate future to the Raiders and the whole camp at RVW is thrilled with the news.”
Indeed Harvey has already been to America for a trial this summer, while rumours have linked him to a return to the EPL with Slough or Peterborough.
A Raiders spokesman said: “Frankie had a fantastic first season in the EPL and is probably the most exciting prospect the Raiders have had since Danny Marshall himself. Actually, ‘prospect’ doesn’t really do Frankie justice. He arrived with a bang in senior hockey last year and scored some of the most spectacular goals we’ve seen at RVW for years.
“There’s no doubt that his form was affected by injury in the closing weeks of the season but Frankie had already done enough to show that he was

something special, a home grown kid and a GB regular who has all of the talent but none of the bad attitude that often goes with it.
“Some people may forget that he’s not 18 until September but he was already on our first line and first powerplay unit last year and proved he was completely at home. We’re philosophical here and realise that Frankie‘s expected progression means he probably won’t be at Rom Valley Way forever, but he’s here now and it’s a huge boost to Danny’s team plans. We’re absolutely delighted.”
