Roadrunners streak past Wranglers, 5-2

The Wranglers fell 5-2 to the Roadrunners in Tucson on Saturday night, with Martin Frk and Dryden Hunt supplying the offence in a tough road outing.

Calgary found themselves chasing the game early after Sam Lipkin opened the scoring midway through the first, before Maveric Lamoureux doubled the homeside’s advantage late in the frame to make it 2-0.

Owen Allard struck early in the second o extend the lead, and a powerplay marker from Artem Duda made it 4-0.

Frk finally got Calgary on the board, snapping a shot from the slot after a tidy feed from Artem Grushnikov, whose assist marked his first AHL point of the season.

Hunt provided a spark in the third, sending a one-timer from the right circle past Matthew Villalta to halve the deficit, with Frk collecting the helper and moving one assist shy of 200 for his AHL career.

With Owen Say pulled for the extra attacker, Dimitri Simashev sealed it for Tucson, a point shot deflecting off Frk and into the empty net to cap it.

Calgary will go into the second half of the double header on Dec. 28 at 4 p.m. MT.
