Road-weary Jets lose fourth straight

ST.PAUL, Minn – With Thanksgiving a day away it looked like the Jets were already stuffed as they continued to slide in the wrong direction losing their fourth 4th straight road game and close out this five-game trip on Friday night looking to salvage at least Minnesota WIldone win. The Minnesota Wild handed the Jets a 3-1 defeat in front of 19,022 fans at the Excel Energy Center.

Devan Dubnyk got the start for the Wild and he had a relatively easy night stopping 15 shots for the win.

On the losing end, was Connor Hellebuyck who stopped 23 out of 25 Wild shots . Hellebuyck drops to 7-7 on the season.

This was a very physical game as these two rivals played a very hard checking game as both teams were strong in the defensive end as well as the neutral zone. Tight checking strategic checking game is what it was.

The Wild opened the scoring in the final minute of the second period as captain Mikko Koivu snapped home his third of the season.

Blake Wheeler thought he tied things up for the Jets early in the second but after a Bruce Boudreau challenge the ruling was the Jets were offside before they scored and the goal was disallowed.

As luck would have it the Wild pounced on the missed momentum as Jonis Brodin scored his second of the season on the power play to give the home team a 2-0 lead.

With the Jets on the power play, Wheeler made sure his next one counted as he batted in a rebound for his seventh of the year to make it 2-1 .

The Jets found some life and pressed a bit as Dubnyk robbed Josh Morrissey with a beauty pad stack to keep the Wild ahead.

With the net empty and the Jets somewhat pressing Zach Parise managed to find the empty net for his third and seal the deal for Minnesota’s 3-1 win.

The Jets will travel to Nashville for the first of a home and home with the Predators on Friday night before finishing off in Winnipeg on Sunday afternoon.
