PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Peoria Rivermen completed a weekend sweep by capturing a victory by the same score as the previous two nights, a 4-3 overtime win over the Pensacola Ice Flyers on Saturday night at Pensacola Bay Center.
The Ice Flyers scored first with 3:56 left in the opening period when a drive from the slot by Nick Larson snuck under the pads of Rivermen goalie Kyle Rank and was ruled a goal after discussion by the officials. The Rivermen answered only nine seconds later when Jake Trask tallied from the right point on assists from Jason Cohen and Garrett Vermeersch to set the first intermission score at 1-1. 
Pensacola gained a 2-1 lead 5:30 into the second period when a loose puck deflected to Brett Lutes in stride at the right circle, who converted a low stick-side blast. The Rivermen again quickly countered as Alex Hudson found an open net at the left post when Ice Flyers goalie Max Strang was jostled out of position by a teammate during a flurry just 2:11 later to tie the contest at 2-2 going to the second intermission.
The Rivermen took their first lead with 13:20 showing in regulation when Jason Cohen crashed the net and shelfed a rebound of a Hudson shot. The Ice Flyers tied the contest with 5:22 remaining when a shot by Nick McParland tumbled high in the air over Rank’s shoulder and just over the goal line to eventually send the game to overtime.
Peoria captured their third straight 4-3 overtime win of the weekend when Steve Morra took a feed from Garrett Vermeersch on an open left wing and scored the winner with a low stick-side drive with 41.4 seconds left in the extra session.
Rank stopped 30 shots for his league-leading 18th win while Strang took the overtime loss also with 30 saves. The Rivermen were 1-for-5 on power plays while the Ice Flyers were 0-for-4.
The win puts the Rivermen (22-11-3, 47 points) in a tie for the Southern Professional Hockey League lead with Knoxville. Pensacola remains in sixth place and has won only two of their last 10 games with a record of 17-11-5 for 39 points.
