Rivermen making coaching changes

PEORIA, Ill – The AHL Peoria Rivermen are looking for a new head coach after their parent club, the St. Louis Blues, declined to exercise its option on head coach Jared Bednar for the 2012-13 season.  
 
“I want to thank Jared for his dedication and passion for our organization and the game of hockey,” Peoria General Manager Kevin McDonald said in a press release. “He deserves tremendous credit for developing our young players over the past two seasons and we sincerely wish him the best in the future.”
 
Bednar, 40, i n two seasons with the Rivermen, compiled a record of 81-63-12.
 
In other Rivermen coaching news, Drake Berehowsky, who has served as an assistant coach under Bednar, will be head coach of the ECHL Wheeling Nailers.The team did not address the status of the other assistant coach, Danny Brooks, when asked for comment.
 
The Blues and Rivermen were sold to a group of St. Louis-area businessmen, led by Tom Stillman and Andy Taylor, just over a month ago.
