The Rivermen started the scoring late in the first after going on the power play. With former Rivermen winger Dennis Sicard in the penalty box for roughing, a scramble above the Knoxville crease led to a puck coming away to Cody Dion, who beat Ice Bears goaltender Bryan Hince at 14:19 of the first to make it 1-0.

The Rivermen doubled their lead with a short-handed tally the 18:39 mark of the second. After Peoria was down 5-on-3, Walker Wintoneak came streaking out of the penalty box to make it 5-on-4, and took a pass from Mike Gurtler to spring a breakaway. Wintoneak leaned into a wrister that found its way through Hince to make it 2-0 Peoria after one period.

The Rivermen continued building their lead with an even-strength goal late in the second period. With just over a minute to go in the period, Dave Pszenyczny entered the right wing of the Knoxville zone, and passed the puck to the slot, where Josh Harris rifled a one-timer past Hince to make the score 3-0.

Jacobson got the win in goal as he stopped all 26 Knoxville shots on goal. The shutout is Jacobson’s third of the season and second in a row after he shut out the Mississippi RiverKings in his last outing March 26.
