The Mississippi RiverKings and Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Derek Landmesser have announced the re-signing of forwards Brant Sherwood and Derek Sutliffe.
Sherwood, 26, returns to the RiverKings for his third professional season and second with Mississippi. After two seasons at SUNY- Cortland, Sherwood began his professional career in 2015-16 with the Berlin River Drivers of the Federal Hockey League where he averaged 1.15 points per game. The San Anselmo, CA, native joined the RiverKings in 2016-17 and tallied 33 points (14G, 19A) in 48 regular season games while adding two more helpers in the postseason.
Sutliffe, 25, will begin his first professional season with the RiverKings in 2017-18, after four years at the College of St. Scholastica. The 6-foot-one winger played 14 total games under an amateur contract with the RiverKings last season, notching 11 points (3G, 8A) including an assist in three playoff games.
