OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla – Bobby Chaumont was involved in all three RiverKings goals and after allowing an early fluke goal CHL Goaltender of the Year Kevin Beech slammed the door on the Oklahoma City Blazers season as he stopped 24 Blazers parries on the evening. Eric Przepiorka opened the scoring when Mississippi defender Jeff Alcombrack’s clearing attempt struck Przepiorka bounced into the air, struck Beech’s back and rolled into the net. That stroke of fortune would be the last for the Blazers this season. Chaumont started the series-winning rally when he tipped a shot by Andrew Lackner behind Oklahoma City netminder Doug Groenestege. Lackner registered a goal of his own a few minutes later to give the RiverKings a lead they would not relinquish. Jeff Nelson finished the game’s scoring with an insurance goal Mississippi would never need to cash in. The win was Mississippi’s seventh in a row in Oklahoma City and propelled them into the conference finals against the Colorado Eagles. That series is slated to begin later this week.
