RiverKings Drop Game to Ice Bears 3-0

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. – It was a shutout loss for the Mississippi RiverKings Saturday night as they fell 3-0 to the Knoxville Ice Bears at the Landers Center. The RiverKings power play would have a tough night going 0-8 but the penalty kill would blank the Ice Bears as well. The second period would be when the Ice Bears would strike three times but those three would be enough. It would mark the end of a tough weekend for the Knoxville IceBears logoRiverKings as they would drop 2 straight.

The first period would see both teams take 9 shots but neither team finding the back of the net as both netminders kept the score at zero. The RiverKings would get three opportunites on the power play but could not get a goal along with one for the Ice Bears with both teams penalty kills having good nights.

It would be a tough middle of the second period as the RiverKings would give up three goals to the Ice Bears. Doug Reid would get a shorthanded goal at the end of the RiverKings power play to give the lead to the Ice Bears, followed by goals from John Clewlow with assists from Travis Jeke and Doug Reid and Trever Hertz from Luke Sandler and Rich Ledy to make it a three goal game.

The third would see the RIverKings get a 5 on 3 opportunity and get would looked like the first goal of the night but it would be disallowed for goalie interference. A should would hit crossbar as well for the RiverKings as one of their closes opportunities.
