Columbus, GA – The Columbus River Dragons swept the Blue Ridge Bobcats, claiming their second victory of the weekend in regulation, 4-1.
Ryan Hunter opened things up with a breakaway goal at 4:31, taking Bobcats’ goaltender Hunter Virostek by surprise, burying a backhanded deke.
Jakub Volf brought the Bobcats back into the game at 9:00 in the first period, scoring what would be their only goal.
Hunter Hall was penalized for holding at the end of the first period at 19:17, allowing Cody Wickline the opportunity to score a power play goal thirty one seconds into the second period.
The River Dragons capitalized in the third period, scoring twice. Alexander Jmaeff scored at 14:42 and Alex Storjohann at scored the last of the night at 15:52.
Ryan Hunter (5-10-15) and Justin MacDonald (9-11-20) extended their scoring streak to 8 games each, a season high.
Alex Storjohann and Cody Wickline each achieved one goal and one assist during the contest with the Blue Ridge Bobcats.
Columbus will battle the Rock Lobsters in Athens on Wednesday night, before returning home to play the Monroe Moccasins on Friday.
