River Dragons Succumb to Venom

Columbus, GA – The Columbus River Dragons fell to the HC Venom in regulation last night, 3-2.

Down 3-1 in the third period, Columbus staged a strong effort to come together to tie the game, but fell short.

Justin MacDonald managed to bring Columbus to a one-point deficit at 16:27 off of Ryan Hunter and Noah Hatcher.

Columbus then put an extra man on the ice, pulling Trevor Babin from the net. With the 6-on-5 advantage, Columbus frenzied to tie the game, but fell short.

This contest marked the first meet between the River Dragons and the HC Venom.

Noah Hatcher achieved his first pro point in his first pro game. Joel Texmo also appeared in his first pro game.

Columbus remains just two points away from clinching a playoff berth.

Columbus will continue their weekend series with the HC Venom, playing Saturday night at 7:05 pm and again on Sunday at 4:05 pm.
