Columbus, GA – The Columbus River Dragons hosted the Monroe Moccasins Friday night, claiming victory in regulation, 5-2.
Alexander Jmaeff gave the River Dragons an early lead in the first period, achieving the only score until Justin MacDonald added to their lead, scoring on a power play in the second frame.
Hugo Koch scored at 3:00 in the second period, marking one of only two goals from the Moccasins.
In the third frame, Ryan Hunter extended the River Dragons’ lead to 3-1 at 5:35. Justin MacDonald scored twice, once at 11:13 and again at 15:29, to achieve his second hat trick of the season.
Khaden Henry buried one for the Moccasins at 1:57, only softening their defeat.
The game ended with the River Dragons claiming victory, 5-2.
Three River Dragons produced multi-point performances.
Justin MacDonald tallied four points during this contest (3 goals, 1 assist). Ryan Hunter scored three points (1 goal and 2 assists), and Cody Wickline produced two assists.
The River Dragons head to Detroit to battle the Motor City Rockers on the road for a weekend series, starting on Friday, February 28.
The Monroe Moccasins will also be on the road for a weekend series with the Athens Rock Lobsters.
