Rimouski head coach seemed satisfied with his team’s performance on the road. “We played a good game, we had lots of young kids today, I liked the way Bernard (Jacob) as defenseman, our Russian did pretty well also and Bertrand (Yannick) for his first game with us gave the tempo to begin the game.” Rimouski head coach Serge Beausoleil.
“If Bernard played like that as veteran he will worth a lot,” added Beausoleil.
Rimouski opened the scoring on a penalty shot. Dennis Mikhnin scored his first of preseason with only 0:44 seconds gone beating Dereck Baribeau who has been beaten three times on first six shot facing a total of 10 shots before Olivier Chalifour came in for the second half of the game.
Oceanic added a second goal exactly 4:00 later as Nick Gosse completed the play of Yanick Bertrand.
Maxim Trepanier scored Oceanic third goal what became later in the game the insurance goal at 16:39 of the first period.
On Quebec side, Quebec head coach Philippe Boucher admitted that his team could have played better at the beginning of the game but agreed that he began to have better idea of his team because players seemed to eliminate themselves by their performance.
“I didn’t like our beginning of the game with the penalty shot but as the game went on I liked our effort in second period,” Boucher said after the game.

“I clearly began to get answers,” admitted Boucher. “We said players cut themselves alone sometimes, the team made themselves alone, we will give some other chances to other. Some takes their opportunity other didn’t.”
“In tomorrow’s game, some other young kids will get chance to play, we want to continue to play young kids we used six 16-years old tonight we will use several other tomorrow to complete our thinking. We have certain position Caron (Thomas) for example Lenoard (Liam) can’t play tonight. Caron, Lenoard, Laframboise will battle for spot, on defense we have lots of defensemen so it will be a new group of defensemen who will play tomorrow.” Quebec coach Boucher said.
Quebec’s only goal was scored by Mikael Robidoux, the only assist went to Olivier Mathieu at 4:13 of third periods.
In the matinee, the organization announced other players who had been cut. Names are goaltender Owen Liskiewicz defenseman Mathieu Lavoie, American players Jake-Alexander Putnam, Eric Brown and Benjamin MCGlashing. In the case of the three American they already advised the organization that they would leave after 48 hour period to be able to keep their NCAA eligibility.
