QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. —Coming into Quebec with solid record of six wins only one loss with winning first time against Quebec on September 12, Rimouski came from behind with the help of Dylan Montcalm who scored three goals for first time in three years as he played in Drummondville in the under 17. Trailing by one Rimouski came back scoring next three goals to lead by two before seeing Quebec scoring a second goal. But the empty net goal by Tylor Boland gave to the Oceanic a 4-2 win over the Remparts beating Quebec.
Visitor head coach Serge Beausoleil wasn’t happy about his team performances even if his team fines a way to come back in that game to win it.
“I’m little shy to talk to you tonight considering the show we offered to the fans. It was by far one of our worst performance. We have been use to play far better than what we played tonight. It was a really bad habit to play like that and getting out with a win because it didn’t have any impact on the players.”
“As head coach when you tried to talk about the team performance players can replied but we won coach. Tonight it was totally unacceptable.” Oceanic head coach Beausoleil said.
Dominating 13-3 in shots on goal, Quebec drew first blood on Thursday night. Dmytro Timashov long wrist shot found tiny hole between Rimouski goaltender Louis-Philip Gindon’s pads with 12:33 to go in first period.
The line of Matthew Boucher, Olivier Garneau and Brondon Beaton has been best offensive line for Philippe Boucher’s team getting great scoring chances.
Going 0-in-17 before the game Quebec lost two great chances to add to their lead giving best scoring chances to Rimouski in two-on-none. Carson MacKinnon and Michael Joly. Intercepting the pass to Joly from MacKinnon Quebec netminder made the save.
A turnover from behind Quebec goal led to Rimouski tying goal. Stealing the puck to Quebec defenseman Raphael Maheux Oceanic right winger Francois Beauchemin found teammates Dylan Montcalm scoring his first goal beating Quebec goalie Booth to his right side at 7:20.
Quebec ended second period being 0-in-3 after forty minutes, and 0-in-20 in their last 20 power play opportunities.
Rimouski took the lead for the first time in the game on second goal of the night by Oceanic center Montcalm with only 46 seconds gone in the third period. Hi shot from right side surprised Quebec netminder beating Booth over his right shoulder.
Rimouski center completed his hat trick on controversial goal as the puck had been redirected by Montcalm with his skate after Quebec goalie made first save on Michael Joly shot. The rebound hit Montcalm skate before it went in.
After some initial uncertain, the referee decide the goal was good. And after further review decision was the right one. Rimouski had the lead 3-1 at 10:13.
“It went good we have had slow start but we finally came out of here with the two points,” the author of his first hat trick in last two or three years Dylan Montcalm.
“In third period we kept things simple, we came back to game plan and we were successful. We worked hard we moved our feet and it turnout good for us. We expect Quebec would come out strong so we were lucky Louis-Philip played very well in first two period.”
Quebec finally got one with Rimouski defenseman Beau Rusk in the penalty box for roughing. Looking for his first goal of the year former Moncton Wildcats veteran center Bronson Beaton scores the goal at 14:54.
Rimouski came back with an empty net goal after Quebec head coach Philippe Boucher pulled out his netminder trying to get the equalizer. Taylor Boland scores Rimouski fourth goals at 18:46.
“We always want to win but I don’t think we can make any excuses tonight, feels good to get the first goal but we got to take notes for Sunday.” The veteran Quebec center Brondon Beaton said after the game.
“Like I said I think we have had good start of the game, I think every points we were solid, we did good things but we will have to take some notes for Sunday game.” Continued the former Moncton Wildcats veteran.
First words from Quebec head coach Philippe Boucher were about the controversial goal answering question about the goal. “I thought it was almost offside at first but I think it wasn’t cause they took their time to look at it,” said the Quebec head coach Boucher referring to Rimouski third goals by Montcalm.
“As far as the goal the referee seem to say it wasn’t good but he change his mind so once you gave a goal or refused one it took a very conclusive video review to change referee decision, I will have to re-read the rule but as far as I’m concern it wasn’t a goal.”
“After the first two periods we only gave seven or eight shots, we didn’t gave nothing tonight. We made an error on first goal, the second one shouldn’t got in, third one it was a skate and the fourth one… So we didn’t gave too much. Defensively we did great job in first two periods, in third little bit less.”
“I will agree with you that in second it was little bit harder our power plays did not worked well finding the net seems to be harder for the rest systematically we works things, we wouldn’t want to be a defensive team but we will have to give up less goals. We almost didn’t gave scoring opportunities. As far as the rest is concern we will have to find a way to put the puck in the net.” Concluded Quebec head coach Boucher.
