QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. — No, no you didn’t read wrong, lot of things happened in Quebec, since the Quebec Remparts elimination in the first round last season’s QMJHL playoff, against the Charlottetown Islanders. What was supposed to be resume of the years and the playoff, transformed in an announcement of Philippe Boucher was not returning as Quebec Remparts head coach and General Manager.
After five-year of absence, three as NHL Colorado Avalanche head coach and two other out of hockey, Patrick Roy and Quebec Remparts President Mr. Jacques Tanguay had a talk that led to his rehiring as General Manager and head coach in Quebec on April 26 2018. 
“We are extremely happy to see Patrick back with us. We all knew his big passion for hockey and it is with great enthusiasm that we will welcome him back in our grand family of Quebec Remparts.” Mr. Jacques Tanguay said about Patrick return with the organization.
“When I decided to retired in August 2016, I needed times, “said the former Montreal Canadiens and Colorado Avalanche goaltender. “ I took the times for me and it was good for me to do it. When the job became available and Jacque Tanguay contacted me, I had to listen. I wouldn’t wanted to take an emotional decision but a well thought one,” said Roy.
“That is why after couple days of reflection after having watched some playoff games, I decided to come back in the organization.” The one who now is the new General Manager and head coach of the Quebec Remparts.
Mid-August for all junior hockey fans means the return of their favorite sport hockey and in Quebec City a total of 56 players reported to new General Manager and head coach Roy on August 15.
With two practice by day beginning August 16 players didn’t has had too many times to prove themselves to the new head coach before first pre-season game on Sunday August 8 in Rimouski.
“I’m anxious, it was a process since the time I was hired until today. We are well prepared so for sure we anxious for tomorrow,” Patrick Roy said on the press conference the day players arrived on last August 15. “For me it is more exciting because I didn’t know the players. It will give me the chance to see and learn to know the young kids the future of the organization, the one we drafted at the QMJHL entry draft.”
After two days of practice, several players already left the training camp before the first pre-season game. On Saturday morning, Roy gave the bad news to five players who had to left the training camp, four other decided to leave by themselves whether to keep their eligibility to NCAA or for other reasons.
Goaltender Olivier Troops, Dominik Tmej defenseman Joel Mongeon right winger Brett Fisher and center Kyle Fisher got the bad news and were cut from the training camp.
As far as center Caleb Kean goaltender Branden Slawaska and defenseman Luke MacLean they simply decided to left the camp.
Following the last intra-squad game on Friday, 13 other players were returned to their respective midget teams. Defensemen Jonathan Lefrancois, Eric Nadon and Xavier Raby, forwards Tommy Vaugeois, Jacob Cote, Jordan Roy, Alexandre Fortin, Emile St-Pierre William Chabot and Loik Begin goaltenders Griffin Kelly and Thomas Boucher. As far as American left winger Alexander Teleguine, he left the camp to keep his NCAA eligibility.
Quebec Remparts open their pre-season game on Sunday August 19 facing arch rival Rimouski Oceanic.
