ONTARIO, Ca. – In a reversal of game one in the Pacific Division semi finals series between Colorado and Ontario the second game saw Ontario control play from the opening faceoff and out shoot and out score the Colorado Eagles by a clear margin.
Tallying the first goal of the game just 2:20 into the opening period Matt White of the Reign took a pass from Maxim Kitsyn and beat Eagles goalie Clark Saunders upstairs for the 1 to 0 lead.
With 3:28 left in the first period Rocco Carzo scored on a two on one break with Judd Blackwater electing to pass off to Carzo for an easy short handed goal to end the period with Ontario up 2 to 0.
The only scoring in the middle frame was also a short handed goal. This time it was Colorado’s Derek Rodwell beating Reign goalie Joe Cannata while a man down late in the second period to bring the score to 2 to 1 for the home team entering the second intermission.
Both goals in the third period were courtesy of the Ontario Reign with Everett Sheen scoring on an out of the penalty box breakaway at 12:39 and Garry Nunn potting an empty net goal at 17:57 to give Reign a 4 to 1 victory and even the series 1 game each as they head to Colorado for games 3, 4 and 5.
Game 3 will be played in Loveland, Co. at the Budweiser Events Center on Sunday April 19 at 7:05 P.M. MDT.
