ONTARIO, Calif – The San Jose Barracuda (18-11-5-3, 44pts) presented by Barracuda Networks gave up a 2-0 lead through 40 minutes and dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to the host Ontario Reign (23-10-2-1, 49pts) in front of 8,299 fans at the Citizens Bank Arena on Friday evening. Head Coach Roy Sommer remains at 635 wins and will look to tie Fred “Bun” Cook (636 wins – 1st all-time in AHL) on Saturday at 7:30pm at the SAP Center in a rematch vs. the Reign. 
Goaltender Aaron Dell (6-7-5) made 31 saves while Karl Stollery and Trevor Parkes scored 1st period goals for the Barracuda as San Jose is now to 9-2-5-0 in their last 16 games. Ontario scored twice in the third period, including the game tying goal with just 1:32 left on their 7th power play of the game and with the extra attacker on the ice. Nic Dowd (9th) won the game just 28 seconds into the extra frame with a wicked shot on an odd man to complete the comeback.
The Barracuda struck twice in the opening period to take an early 2-0 lead. Defenseman Karl Stollery (5th) scored from in tight after a great feed from across the crease at the tail end of a major power play at 5:31 to give San Jose a 1-0 advantage. The Barracuda went ahead 2-0 after Trevor Parkes (8th) rushed down the middle of the ice and deflected a Jeremy Langlois centering feed over the shoulder of goaltender Peter Budaj at 14:00. San Jose outshot Ontario 11-8 through 20 minutes of play.
Neither team scored in the second period that featured four Ontario power plays and a lengthy 5-on-3 advantage for the Reign but San Jose netminder Aaron Dell stood tall and made 12 saves in the frame as the Barracuda took a 2-0 lead into the second intermission.
Reign defenseman Vincent LoVerde (5th) got Ontario on the board at 1:33 of the third period with a point shot that made its way through a screen and into the net. While on their 7th power play of the game and with the goaltender pulled, the Reign’s Sean Backman (9th) fired a one timer past Dell after a great feed across the slot by Adrian Kempe at 18:28 to force overtime. Shots were 33-22 Ontario after 60 minutes of play.
After Gus Young was taken down at center ice, the Reign came back the other way and Nic Dowd buried the game winner on the first shot in overtime at 28 seconds to give Ontario the 3-2 victory.

Frazer McLaren (inj), Raffi Torres, Ben Smith (travel), Alex Gallant, and Patrick McNally did not dress for the Barracuda…… the Barracuda are in a stretch where they play 9 of 11 on the road… Trevor Parkes now has a four game point streak (3-3-6)…Bryan Lerg also has a four game streak as he added a pair of assists….San Jose played in their AHL high 14th overtime game of the season and are now 3W-5L in games that end in overtime.
