Red Wings edge Kraken on skills

In Detroit, the Red Wings picked off their fourth straight win, 4-3, in the skills competition, over the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday night.

Thomas Greiss made 21 saves in the Detroit win.

The Red Wings improved to 12-9-3.

Ryan Donato hit for a pair goals for Seattle.

“We know we’re missing a couple of our best offensive players, but that’s a situation you are going to have to deal with in this league,” Donato said. “That means the rest of us have to step up and score some goals.”

Detroit has won four straight.

“Getting a point out of this game is massive,” Seattle’s Yanni Gourde said. “We’ve got to be a little bit better than this, but we battled. We can play like this every night.”

Robby Fabbri and Vladislav Namestnikov  had goals for the Wings in regulation.

Vince Dunn scored a single marker for the Kraken.

“I thought we had a couple really good stretches in the game, especially when we got behind in the third period and still found a way to earn a point,” Kraken head coach Dave Hakstol. “That’s something we’ve been able to do in this stretch.”

Lucas Raymond also scored for Detroit, who held a 3-2 lead until Donato scored his second of the game to force extra time.

“Our fans have been fantastic for every home game, and that gives us a lot of energy,” Raymond. “That helps us a lot when we’re playing on the second night of a back-to-back.”

Adam Erne was credited wit the deciding goal in the skills competition.

Philipp Grubauer made 23 saves in the Seattle loss.
