Recap of NHL from 7 Movember 2025

A pair of young stars shone bright on a four-game slate as 19-year-old Macklin Celebrini withstood a Friday frenzy to move into sole possession of the NHL’s scoring lead this season, but only after 20-year-old Connor Bedard briefly took over the position with a four-point effort of his own.
* Wild forward Kirill Kaprizov and Rangers forward Artemi Panarin each produced potent performances in road wins for their clubs, with New York achieving an NHL first in its victory against an Original Six rival.

* Four Canadian teams take to the confines of home ice during the latest Hockey Night in Canada slate, while the Pacific Division-leading Ducks also put their five-game win streak on the line during a 13-game Saturday in the NHL.

BEDARD FACTORS ON ALL FOUR BLACKHAWKS GOALS AND HITS 150 POINTS

Connor Bedard entered Friday riding a six-game point streak and he immediately extended it with an assist in the first period, but he didn’t stop there – the 20-year-old factored on all of Chicago’s three goals in the final frame, which he capped with a takeaway and a nifty breakaway goal. Bedard (1-3—4) finished his night by hitting 150 career points and moving into second in the League’s scoring race (8-14—22).

* Bedard joined Sidney Crosby (9) and Steven Stamkos (4) as the third active player with four or more career four-point games at age 20 or younger. Overall, he tied Denis Savard (4) for the second most in Blackhawks history in that scenario, behind Bobby Hull (5).

* Bedard (20 years, 113 days) surpassed Eddie Olczyk (20 years, 127 days on Dec. 21, 1986) as the youngest skater in Blackhawks history to record 150 career points. In fact, he became the 11th-youngest player in NHL history to reach the mark and the second youngest among active players behind Crosby (18 years, 130 days) – who holds the NHL benchmark.

CELEBRINI WITHSTANDS FRIDAY’S FRENZY ATOP NHL’S LEADING SCORERS

Nineteen-year-old Macklin Celebrini (1-1—2) entered the night with a share of the NHL lead in points with Jack Eichel and Connor McDavid, but he would require a game-tying tally in the first period and a primary assist on the winning goal within the final five minutes of regulation to withstand standout performances from Connor Bedard (8-14—22) and Kirill Kaprizov (9-12—21) and move back atop the League lead in scoring.

* Celebrini (9-14—23 in 15 GP), who capped a three-hour window that featured the three stars jostle for the NHL’s scoring lead, tied Steve Yzerman (23 in 1984-85) and Wayne Gretzky (23 in 1980-81) for the most points by a teenager in NHL history through his first 15 games of a season.

KAPRIZOV AND PANARIN PRODUCE MUST-SEE MOMENTS FRIDAY

Kirill Kaprizov (1-1—2) and Artemi Panarin (1-2—3) played pivotal roles for the Wild and Rangers on Friday, respectively, and did so with must-see moments that propelled their clubs to victory.

* Kaprizov landed a perfect saucer pass to set up Marco Rossi’s second-period goal and later produced a highlight reel give-and-go with Mats Zuccarello to boost his 2025-26 totals to 9-12—21 (16 GP). Kaprizov, who reached the 20-point mark in a season in 16 games or fewer for the second time, ranks among the League’s top 10 in points per game since his debut in 2020-21.

* Panarin factored on three of his team’s four goals – including the game winner – to register his 63rd three-point game with the Rangers and help his club continue their success on the road; the Rangers lead the NHL with seven road wins. Since joining New York in 2019-20, only Connor McDavid (98 GP), Leon Draisaitl (74 GP), Nathan MacKinnon (70 GP) and Nikita Kucherov (66 GP) have more three-point outings.

STAR PLAYERS GO HEAD-TO-HEAD ON HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA

A four-pack of games on Sportsnet for Saturday’s Hockey Night in Canada broadcast features a pair of high-profile head-to-head matchups starting with longtime friends and rivals David Pastrnak and the Bruins visiting William Nylander and the Maple Leafs as well as a pair of 100-point producers from last year facing off when Nathan MacKinnon and the Avalanche visit Connor McDavid and the Oilers.

* Also on Saturday, two upcoming teams hovering at or near the top of their division face off with each looking for their 10th win of the season when the Mammoth (9-5-0, 18 points) visit the Canadiens (9-3-2, 20 points) in a game also available on TVA Sports in Canada. In Vancouver, two of the three finalists for the Norris Trophy, which was awarded to Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar who is also on Sportsnet tonight, go head-to-head when Quinn Hughes and the Canucks host Zach Werenski and the Blue Jackets.

* As outlined in the first-ever episode of ‘FACEOFF: Inside the NHL” on Amazon Prime, Nylander and Pastrnak were junior teammates in Sweden, both drafted in Round 1 of the 2014 NHL Draft (Nylander: 8th overall; Pastrnak: 25th), and now find themselves as the leading scorer for their respective teams on opposite sides of a historic Original Six rivalry.

* Pastrnak (398) sits two goals away from becoming the sixth Bruins player to reach the 400-goal benchmark. He was named among the first six forwards for Team Czechia at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 and should he reach 400 goals, would join Jaromir Jagr and Patrik Elias as the only players from Czechia to reach the milestone – Jagr helped Team Czechia win Olympic gold in 1998.

* Nylander (6-14—20 in 11 GP) has recorded a point in 10 of 11 appearances this season and is the second-fastest Maple Leafs skater in the NHL’s expansion era (since 1967-68) to reach the 20-point mark in a season, following Doug Gilmour (10 GP in 1992-93).

* McDavid (4-17—21 in 15 GP) and MacKinnon (10-10—20 in 14 GP) both sit among the top 10 scorers in the NHL again early this season – the pair have both finished among the top 10 in scoring in each of the previous three campaigns. The two high-scoring forwards were teammates for Team Canada at the 4 Nations Face-Off and have already been named to their country’s roster for the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. MacKinnon was named MVP of the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament after leading the tournament in goals, while McDavid netted the championship-clinching goal in overtime.

FIVE MORE THINGS TO LOOK FOR SATURDAY

A full 13-game Saturday has plenty for everyone and will cover 12 hours of continuous action from the first game at 12:30 p.m. ET until the closing contests at 10 p.m. ET. #NHLStats has outlined five more things to watch heading into Saturday’s games below with much more available in Saturday’s Live Updates.

* The Pacific Division-leading Ducks (9-3-1, 19 points) are aiming to return to the postseason for the first time in eight years and bring a five-game win streak into Vegas to face the Golden Knights (7-3-3, 17 points), the team closest to them in the division standings. Anaheim can extend its win streak to six games for the first time since early in the 2023-24 season.* ICYMI: NHL EDGE stats behind the Ducks’ breakthrough season

* The Devils (10-4-0, 20 points) sit atop the Metropolitan Division and own a 6-0-0 mark at Prudential Center. New Jersey will need to extend the franchise’s second-longest home winning streak from the start of a season if they want to remain atop the division standings when games conclude on Saturday – they host NHL goal scoring co-leader Sidney Crosby and the Penguins (9-4-2, 20 points), who enter the contest with equal standings points but one more game played.

* In addition to the Penguins, the Predators are also in action on Saturday with less than a week until the two teams contest a pair of games in Stockholm, Sweden as part of the 2025 NHL Global Series Sweden presented by Fastenal. This year’s two-game set begins Friday, Nov. 14 (2 p.m. ET) and concludes Sunday, Nov. 16 (9 a.m. ET) and will feature the highest-scoring active European defenseman in terms of goals (Erik Karlsson), the highest-scoring active Swedish goal scorer (Filip Forsberg) and the top point producer overall among active players (Crosby). Click here for an #NHLStats Pack with more notes ahead of the event.

* The two-time defending Stanley Cup champions continue their West Coast road trip when they visit Macklin Celebrini and the Sharks. Two veteran Panthers are closing in on career milestones heading into the weekend, with goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky (436) one win from matching Jacques Plante (437) for ninth on the NHL’s all-time wins list and forward Brad Marchand (995) five points from becoming the 12th active player to reach the 1,000-point milestone. Of the 11 active players to reach the benchmark, Marchand would join Nikita Kucherov as the only two of that group who were selected outside of the first round of the NHL Draft.

* The longtime rivalry between the Rangers and Islanders continues Saturday night at Madison Square Garden with a fresh look – a new head coach (Mike Sullivan) and captain (J.T. Miller) for the Rangers and a high-impact rookie defenseman (Matthew Schaefer) skating for the Islanders. The Rangers (4-0-0) swept the season series between the clubs in 2024-25 (NYI: 0-4-0), with Artemi Panarin (5-2—7 in 4 GP) leading all players in scoring across those games. Among active defensemen, only Zach Werenski (5-8—13 in 14 GP), Cale Makar (1-10—11 in 14 GP) and Moritz Seider (2-9—11 in 14 GP) had as many points through their first 14 career regular-season games as Schaefer (5-6—11 in 14 GP).
