OLYMPIC-BOUND STARS CELEBRATE MONUMENTAL MILESTONES ON MONDAY
Team Canada teammates and Cole Harbour, N.S., natives Nathan MacKinnon (2-1—3) and Sidney Crosby (0-2—2) each found the score sheet multiple times to celebrate monumental moments and lift the Avalanche (34-5-8, 76 points) and Penguins (23-14-11, 57 points) to victory.

* MacKinnon (405-695—1,100 in 917 GP) posted his 14th three-point game of the season and became the second player in franchise history, as well as the 10th active player, to reach the 1,100-point milestone. His 112 career three-point games are the third most among all skaters since debuting in 2013-14, behind Connor McDavid (146 GP) and Nikita Kucherov (115 GP).

* The Avalanche star (38-47—85 in 47 GP) moved back into the NHL’s scoring lead, ahead of McDavid (30-55—85 in 50 GP) who has played three more games, and opened up an eight-goal cushion in the Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy race. MacKinnon, who can join Daniel Sedin (2010-11 w/ VAN) as the second player in NHL history to win his first Art Ross Trophy in his 10th season or later, can become the fourth player to win the Art Ross Trophy and the Maurice “Rocket” Richard in the same season (McDavid: 2022-23, Alex Ovechkin: 2007-08 & Jarome Iginla: 2001-02).

* Crosby notched his 512th career multi-point outing in his 1,400th career game and surpassed Gordie Howe (511 GP) for fifth place on the NHL’s all-time list. The Penguins captain became the 12th player in NHL history to skate in 1,400 games with a single franchise, and third active, alongside Ovechkin (1,541 GP w/ WSH) and Anze Kopitar (1,491 GP w/ LAK).

* Crosby’s 1,091 assists are the third most in NHL history through 1,400 career games, behind Wayne Gretzky (1,892) and Paul Coffey (1,133). His 1,742 points are also third most, behind Gretzky (2,772) and Marcel Dionne (1,771).

FOLIGNO, HUGHES HELP WILD MOVE INTO SECOND IN CENTRAL DIVISION

Marcus Foligno (3-0—3) scored his first career hat trick and Quinn Hughes (0-2—2) collected two assists as the Wild (28-13-9, 65 points) defeated the Maple Leafs and leapfrogged the idle Stars (27-13-9, 63 points) for second place in the Central Division.

* Foligno became the first Wild player to record a hat trick since Joel Eriksson Ek last season (April 9, 2025 vs. SJS) and the first to do so on the road since Kirill Kaprizov nearly two years ago (Jan. 21, 2024 at CAR).

* Hughes, named to Team USA for the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, became the 10th American defenseman in NHL history to record 90 career multi-assist games, following Phil Housley (179 GP), Brian Leetch (148 GP), Chris Chelios (142 GP), Mark Howe (118 GP), Gary Suter (114 GP), John Carlson (108 GP), Reed Larson (94 GP), Ryan Suter (92 GP) and Keith Yandle (91 GP). With those two assists, Hughes also became the fastest player to 20 career points with the Wild (2-18—20 in 18 GP).

MORE NOTES FROM AROUND THE RINKS FEATURED IN #NHLSTATS: LIVE UPDATES

The latest edition of #NHLStats: Live Updates saw several young stars from across the League find the score sheet to help their team to a win during a busy Monday slate:

* Matthew Schaefer (0-2—2) factored on two of his team’s four goals to help the Islanders (27-17-5, 59 points) maintain second place in the Metropolitan Division. Schaefer recorded his seventh multi-point game of 2025-26 and tied Ryan Pulock (7 GP in 2017-18) for the fifth most in a single season by a rookie defenseman in franchise history behind Vladimir Malakhov (15 GP in 1992-93), Stefan Persson (14 GP in 1977-78), Denis Potvin (12 in 1973-74) and Bryan Berard (11 GP in 1996-97). In the process, Schaefer (13-21—34 in 49 GP) also surpassed Tim Connolly (14-20—34 in 1999-00) for the most assists in a single season by an 18-year-old in Islanders history and tied him for most points.

* Michael Misa (0-2—2) posted his first career multi-point game and helped the Sharks (25-20-3, 53 points) move within five points of the idle Oilers (25-17-8, 58 points) for second place in the Pacific Division. Misa became the fourth 18-year-old in Sharks history to register a multi-assist game alongside Macklin Celebrini (8x; last: April 9, 2025), Patrick Marleau (2x; last: March 28, 1998) and Jeff Friesen (March 25, 1995).

* Simon Nemec (1-0—1) netted his third overtime goal of the season and helped the Devils improve to 9-2 in games decided beyond regulation – their .818 winning percentage in that scenario is the best in the NHL. Nemec (21 years, 338 days) became the youngest defenseman to score three overtime goals in a season, while only two blueliners in League history have potted more in one campaign: Shayne Gostisbehere (4 in 2015-16) and former Devils defenseman Scott Niedermayer (4 in 2001-02).

* Connor Bedard (1-0—1) scored one of two Blackhawks goals as they earned a shutout win against the Jets and hit the 20-goal mark for the third straight season. He became the fifth player in franchise history to begin his NHL career with three consecutive 20-goal campaigns, joining Patrick Kane (13), Jonathan Toews (12), Denis Savard (10) and Darcy Rota (4). Toews was skating opposite of Bedard last night and was honored with a lengthy and emotional standing ovation in his return to Chicago.

TUESDAY HAS ANOTHER NHL ON TNT TWO-PACK, LIGHTNING LOOKING TO push STREAK

Tuesday’s eight-game slate is headlined by a second straight NHL on TNT doubleheader opening with David Pastrnak and the Bruins visiting the Stars followed by Connor McDavid and the Oilers hosting the Devils.

* Pastrnak can extend his road multi-point streak to a career-high five games as Boston vies for its season high-tying seventh consecutive victory (also 7 GP from Oct. 28 – Nov. 11, 2025). Pastrnak would be the Bruins’ first player with a run of that length since Barry Pederson (6 GP from March 10-27, 1984).

* Matt Duchene, who became the second person from the 2009 NHL Draft class to reach the 900-point milestone earlier this month, is being featured for the meaningful work he does in the community ahead of the Stars taking center stage on TNT. Duchene has been instrumental in making the lives of people with cancer brighter – he welcomes kids going through cancer treatment to Stars games, along with their siblings and families, and meets them after. Duchene once again donated a suite this season, an in-kind commitment totaling nearly $200,000 since joining Dallas in 2023-24. In October, Cancer Support Community North Texas was granted a check from Duchene’s HockeyTonk for $50,309.94.

* McDavid will play his last game against Hischier before Team Canada faces Team Switzerland in the preliminary round of the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. McDavid has found the score sheet in 22 of 23 contests since Dec. 4, 2025, and has factored on three of Edmonton’s 11 unanswered goals over its last two games.
