The Stars skated to a seven-goal victory on the road thanks, in part, to milestone performances from Miro Heiskanen and Wyatt Johnston.
* Quinton Byfield scored the overtime winner for the Kings in his home province of Ontario and helped Los Angeles extend its road point streak to nine games.
* Friday’s four-game schedule starts with the Penguins pitted against the Predators during the 2025 NHL Global Series Sweden presented by Fastenal opener at Avicii Arena in Stockholm.

HEISKANEN, JOHNSTON HIT MILESTONES IN STARS’ SEVEN-GOAL SURGE
Miro Heiskanen (0-1—1) hit the 300-point milestone and Wyatt Johnston (1-0—1) scored his 100th career goal as the Stars surged to victory at Bell Centre. At least 15 skaters found the score sheet for Dallas for the sixth time in team history and first since Feb. 8, 2025.
* The Stars, who tied the largest margin of victory in a road shutout in franchise history (also Jan. 12, 1983 at PIT), won by a margin of seven goals as the visitor for the second time in team history, following Feb. 15, 2024 (9-2 W at NSH).
* Johnston (22 years, 183 days) became the third-youngest player in Stars/North Stars history to record 100 career goals behind only Brian Bellows (20 years, 179 days) and Mike Modano (22 years, 173 days). Johnston (264 GP) also became the second-fastest player in Stars team history to score 100 NHL goals, following Jason Robertson (203 GP).
* Heiskanen surpassed Brad Maxwell (299) for the fifth-most points by a Stars/North Stars defenseman and became the ninth Finnish blueliner in NHL history to reach the 300-point mark.

ONTARIO-BORN KINGS LEAD CLUB TO OVERTIME VICTORY IN TORONTO
After the Maple Leafs jumped out to 2-0 and 3-2 leads, the Ontario-born trio of Quinton Byfield (1-1—2), Warren Foegele (1-0—1) and Drew Doughty (0-2—2) spearheaded a Kings rally that ended with an overtime victory at Scotiabank Arena. In the process, Los Angeles (7-0-2) extended its road point streak to nine games for the fifth time in the past 20 years and first since 2023-24 (11-0-1).

* Byfield, who netted the overtime winner, boosted his career totals to 55-103—158 (278 GP) and tied Butch Goring (65-93—158 in 225 GP) for the 10th-most points by a Kings player at age 23 or younger – a list topped by Luc Robitaille (184-188—372 in 296 GP). Byfield (Newmarket, Ont.) and Foegele (Markham, Ont.), who both grew up in the Greater Toronto Area, wore jerseys from their childhood teams ahead of the game.
MARCHAND CAPS PANTHERS VICTORY WITH 1,000TH POINT
Brad Marchand (0-2—2) factored on two of Florida’s three third-period goals to boost his career totals to 435-565—1,000. He became the 12th active player to record 1,000 career points and joined Nikita Kucherov as the second active skater selected outside the first round of the NHL Draft to reach the milestone.
* Marchand, who has averaged 0.82 points per game since turning 35 (63-75—138 in 169 GP), has collected 44 of his 1,000 career points against the Capitals (19-25—44 in 50 GP). Washington also became the 11th franchise the two-time Stanley Cup champion has collected 25 career assists against (most: 41 in 67 GP vs. BUF).

SENATORS, BLUE JACKETS EARN WINS FOLLOWING EMOTIONAL PRE-GAME CEREMONIES
The Senators (9-5-4, 22 points) and Blue Jackets (9-7-1, 19 points) each skated to closely contested victories after each club celebrated their Hockey Fights Cancer Nights prior to puck drop.
* Tim Stützle scored the game-winning goal with 5:43 remaining in the third period as the Senators ended the Bruins’ seven-game win streak. His five go-ahead goals trail only Cole Caufield (8), Bo Horvat (6) and Seth Jarvis (6) for the most among all players. Two-year-old Grace, who is battling a rare form of neuroblastoma, participated in one of two pre-game ceremonies and was joined in a ceremonial puck drop by Senators owner Michael Andlauer and his wife Lucie.

* Kirill Marchenko (0-1—1) extended his point streak to 10 games and became the fifth different skater in Blue Jackets history to post a double-digit run and second in the past five years (Patrik Laine: 11 GP in 2021-22). The Blue Jackets honored six children from the 2025 Class of Pediatric Cancer Heroes during their pre-game ceremony while more than 1,000 guests from local cancer support organizations attended the game free of charge.
MORE #NHLSTATS FROM AROUND THE RINKS FEATURED IN LIVE UPDATES
The latest edition of #NHLStats: Live Updates featured a number of noteworthy performances from across the 10-game slate, including from Edmonton’s Connor McDavid, Colorado’s Martin Necas and New York’s Matthew Schaefer:
* McDavid (7-20—27 in 19 GP) posted 0-2—2 and became the NHL’s first player to 20 assists in a season for the fourth time in his career. Only four other players in League history have been the fastest to 20 helpers in at least four campaigns: Wayne Gretzky (6), Bill Cowley (5), Mario Lemieux (4) and Bobby Orr (4).
* Necas (2-2—4) factored on four of six Avalanche goals – including one in the opening minute – as the club extended the NHL’s longest active win streak to five games. Necas, who became the first player in Avalanche/Nordiques history to score within the opening minute of a game three times in a single season, also became the fourth different Avalanche skater with a four-point outing in 2025-26 – tied with the Ducks for the most among all teams.
* Schaefer (1-1—2) factored on two goals, including an assist on the tying tally, to set the stage for Jean-Gabriel Pageau to lift the Islanders to victory with a shorthanded goal in overtime. Schaefer boosted his 2025-26 totals to 6-8—14 (17 GP), surpassing Bobby Orr (6-7—13 in 19 GP) to move into a tie with Ray Bourque (4-10—14 in 19 GP) for the second-most points by an 18-year-old defenseman prior to their 20th career game, trailing only Phil Housley (2-14—16 in 19 GP).

Penguins pitted against Predators in NHL Global Series opener Friday
Friday’s four-game schedule starts with Sidney Crosby and the Penguins facing Filip Forsberg and the Predators during the 2025 NHL Global Series Sweden presented by Fastenal opener at Avicii Arena in Stockholm. The clubs are set to conclude their two-game set Sunday (9 a.m. ET on SN, NHLN, FDSNSO, SN-PIT).

* Crosby’s 1,707 career points are the most among active players, while Forsberg’s 325 goals mark the highest total by a current Swedish skater. The 47th and 48th regular-season games outside North America in League history are also set to feature Erik Karlsson, whose 882 points are the most among active Swedish players and current defensemen born overseas.
* Crosby is one of four players between the two rosters who were part of the NHL’s first venture into continental Europe for regular-season games during the 2008 Premiere Series (also Kris Letang, Evgeni Malkin & Steven Stamkos). Pittsburgh’s longtime trio helped the Penguins earn a split during the League’s first-ever regular-season games played in Sweden, while Stamkos skated his first two career contests as an 18-year-old with the Lightning in Prague, Czechia.
* Pittsburgh and Nashville are the first set of teams to meet in multiple regular-season events overseas, with each club claiming a 3-1 victory during GAME ONe Japan 2000 in Saitama. These will be the fifth and sixth regular-season games outside North America for both teams (NSH: 3-1-0; PIT: 2-2-0), which will tie five other clubs for the most in NHL history.
* The rest of today’s slate is highlighted by Nikolaj Ehlers and the Hurricanes hosting Quinn Hughes and the Canucks on Sportsnet. Ehlers can become the first player with a six-game point streak during his first season with Carolina since Jake Guentzel (8 GP from March 28 – April 14, 2024) – the longest by a skater in his first campaign with the Hurricanes (since 1997-98) is held by Cory Stillman (11 GP from Dec. 15, 2005 – Jan. 7, 2006), whose son, Chase, is a member of the Canucks organization.
