Recap: 2022 Honda All-Star Game

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The 2022 Honda NHL All-Star Game in Las Vegas brought out over 17,000 fans to the T-Mobile Arena, where fans got to see many of their favorite team members on the ice.  All NHL teams were represented in four divisions, Pacific, Central, Atlantic, and Metropolitan. The games were played in the 3 on 3 format.

In the first round, the Pacific Division fell to the Metropolitan Division with a final score of 6-4.  A pair of goals off the stick of Jack Hughes (NJD) helped to push the Metropolitan Division ahead.  Tom Wilson (WSH) scored the first goal only 13 seconds into the match.

Jack Hughes tied as the youngest player in Devils franchise history (with Joe Cirella in 1984) to score a goal in an All-Start game at 20.

In the second match, between the Central and Atlantic Divisions, the Central Division pulled ahead to finish with a final of 8-5.  The game winning goal from Roman Josi (NSH). Jordon Kyrou (STL) opened the scoring for this match ultimately scoring two goals.

In the main event match up, between the Central and Metropolitan Divisions, ended with the Metropolitan Division winning it all, with a final score of 5-3.

Evgeny Kuznetsov (WSH) led off the scoring for the game in the first half, and Claude Giroux (PHI), Chris Kreider (NYR) and Jack Hughes (NJD) followed up. There were also goals from Clayton Keller (ARI) and Nazem Kadri (COL) for the Central Division.

Both Captains finished the scoring in the second half, Joe Pavelski and Giroux with his second goal.

Claude Giroux received Most Valuable Player honors, and the keys to a Honda Passport.

The Metropolitan team takes home the winning check of $1 million.  This is the third time the Metropolitan Division claimed victory in the 3 on 3 final (2017 and 2019).
